Data Quality Insight
The third in a series of Data Quality surveys, ‘Data Quality Insight’ tracks the changes in attitudes towards data quality within businesses over a four year period. Results show that despite organisations increasingly understanding the high importance that good data quality has for the health of their company, stressed trading and operating conditions, means that organisations are becoming introspective with regards to their data, and many results are very similar to those of 2010. Worryingly, external influences such as third-party data sources and customer data entry are increasingly being blamed for data quality issues above internal processes and systems.

Data Quality: Reality and Rhetoric
This new white paper is based on a Data Quality Management (DQM) survey conducted in May 2010, following a similar survey conducted in 2008. The findings reveal a mixed picture of data quality management in the organisations surveyed showing that there has been little progress on the most important aspects of data quality.
The results also show that data quality within an organisation is something of real importance and value to a business, but when we compare this year’s results to those of 2008, we find that many aspects of data quality and management have not shown any improvement, and in some cases the situation for data quality has worsened.

The research also examines the wider issues, including to what extent senior management was recognising the importance of data quality and what they believed the impacts of good or bad data quality is on the organisation.
